Most recent land clearance/ tidy up completed September 2023. The walk through from Walnut Grove to the Back of Beyond, with a steep Chestnut bank. During winter 2020 a tree had fallen and blocked the path. It had been partially cleared in 2021.
All one chestnut tree, but over the years it has been pollarded. There is now no central trunk, and many of the remaining branches are dead, but must be several hundred years old, and still clinging on.
I have named it the Magic Faraway Tree, after the book of the same name by Enid Blyton, one of my childhood favourites.
The next job, will be to tidy up around the whole of the tree.
